ROUNDTRIP ALONG THE COLD WAR-BORDER
The Berlin Wall is one of the most disputed constructions of the 20th century. After its fall in 1989, the monument which once secured the border between East and West was torn down. Today, only pieces are left, but what remains are the border tracks – now serving as bike-trails. Some former border fortifications such as watch-towers or control-points have been put under monument protection and many host interesting museums and documentation centers.
The Berlin Wall bike-trail leads through a very beautiful and diverse landscape as well as through the fascinating cityscapes of Potsdam and above all Berlin, where you can still distinguish, after all this years, the eastern and the western part. The bike trail is mostly paved and easy to cycle and the stages are deliberately short to leave enough time to visit the sights Berlin and its surroundings have to offer.DAY 1 - POTSDAM ARRIVALDAY 2 - FROM EAST TO WESTPotsdam - Spandau, ca. 35km
